I've never been into rap music. I'm still just a punk rock kid with a Beatles heart. But this! My word. When I heard this song and saw this video, I (like EVERY OTHER white kid at the time) was truly captivated, as Snoop says. This video romanticized the whole west coast gangsta rap party culture (or WCGRPC). The video didn't take itself seriously, and I think that's what made it suddenly accessible to white suburbia. Plus Snoop's style was--again--as he puts it, laid back and therefore not threatening.
Also, these Snoop/Dre videos always had blurred out boobs, and seeing that as a kid definitely stirred the imagination.
