Twofer Week: Everclear

With this post, Everclear will be the most posted band on the 90s Corner. Now, I know Everclear is no Madonna, Spice Girls, Backstreet Boys, or other 90s legend, but you cannot deny how huge all the singles from So Much For The Afterglow were. That band just absolutely knocked it out of the park for a while, and proved that 3-chord rock can still hang with the biggest pop acts. Enjoy!

Volume 43: Everclear "I Will Buy You a New Life" (1998)

Looking at my little tag cloud down there, I realized I wasn't giving any love to 1998. Maybe that's because 1998 was the year I started getting into "underground" music and joined my first band, Narwhal. But that doesn't mean MTV was any less pervasive, and this video is a good example of that. I remember riding my bike to CD Warehouse and buying So Much For the Afterglow. Everclear was unavoidable back then; they had 3 huge top 5 singles on that album, and for good cause. Simple, poppy, accessible--but they still rocked when they needed to.
