And now, I'd like to present the music video that spawned a million nightmares. Without disturbing individuals out there, art would rarely be pushed forward. Thanks, I guess.

Electronica Week: Massive Attack "Protection" (1994)
This wasn't a hit single in the US but Massive Attack is awesome and Michel Gondry directed the video. Plus it's kind of an earlier example of 90s electronica. Check it out:

Electronica Week: Fatboy Slim "The Rockafeller Skank" (1998)
Fatboy Slim is awesome. I think this song and video both have ADD.

Electronica Week: Chemical Brothers "Block Rockin' Beats" (1997)
Well, it should be no surprise to fellow drummers that this song sampled the inimitable (though many, including myself, have tried) Bernard Purdie. I like the Chemical Brothers because they're more "serious" than Daft Punk, but more playful than, say, Aphex Twin. And that's pretty much the extent of my Electronica knowledge. I don't know what I'm gonna do for the rest of the week.

Electronica Week: Daft Punk "Around The World" (1997)
Even though it's never been my favorite genre, there was so much good electronica coming out in the mid to late 90s that I feel it needs highlighting. Especially since bands (bands?) like Daft Punk and Chemical Brothers and Fatboy Slim were pushing the boundaries of music video as art at a time when videos were getting stale.
As usual, click the picture for the video!
