Volume 41: Fiona Apple "Criminal" (1997)

I was completely entranced with this video when it came out. Obviously, that was partly because a 19 year-old Fiona Apple was languishing around in her underwear half the time. But there are so many other inexplicable seedy elements in this video that make you think you're only seeing half of whatever is going on at this party. The mechanical camera movements and the direct lighting make it seem like the viewer is in a Mars Rover, just rolling around this party and observing human behavior. It left me uneasy then, and it still has the same effect. Oh and the song's pretty good too.
